The way this country’s going

Q. What do you get when you cross Remembrance Sunday, littering yobs and an empty double decker bus?

A. An idle and wasteful society, obviously.

Market Rasen Mail, 18 November 2009:

It’s going down the pan

EDITOR – On the morning of Remembrance Sunday I witnessed two classic examples of our idle and wasteful society – a council employee having to pick up empty and smashed beer bottles dumped on the footpaths by yobs the night before and a completely empty double decker bus setting out on its Lincoln/ Grimsby circuit with nobody on it.

It’s a pity that those responsible will hardly be aware of these two separate episodes which characterise the way this country’s going.

  1. … but… if a bus is ‘setting out’ on its journey then why would it have anyone on it?

Does this person understand how buses work?

    • On top of those two frankly shocking observations from Ron, I bet that bus probably started its journey at at 9.25am instead of 9.30am as well….what is this world coming to eh? Bring back national service I say…..

    • Unless he meant there was no one at all on the bus. Not even a driver.

Runaway buses are an accurate barometer which which to measure the level of brokenness of ones Britain.

      • Oh, a ghost bus! Why didn’t she just say that, then?

  2. I think this has all been settled: a runaway ghost bus leaving at 9.25am and driving over yobs’ litter will mean the Armageddon is in full swing.
